Yesterday I finally finished watching the BRILLIANT TV Series ‘Vinyl’, which is the lovechild of Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger. From that only, you can probably understand why/how its so good.
If you haven’t seen it, get on it right now. It’s bank holiday weekend; other than drinking, what else do you have to do?
It’s about a failing record company, that is just about to sell for a lot of money, before the head honcho pulls out. Well, a hell of a lot more than that. Sex, drugs, rock and roll. The whole schebang. It’s beautifully shot, and the acting is fantastic (Mick Jagger’s own son is in it, and the casting is absolute perfection), but the star of the show is the music.
The series has ended, but thankfully they’ve been thoughtful enough to release the music, so we can carry on listening. There is a whole mixture of music in the show, some original, some not. It’s been played over and over on my spotify recently, so in today’s travel playlist I thought I would add in a track from the show, and one from Mick Jagger (The Stones’ own).
Ty Taylor – The World Is Yours
Can you not just imagine yourself cruising down a highway in a convertible, on your way to Memphis, with this blaring?
The Rolling Stones – She’s A Rainbow
I was sat deliberating about which of theirs is my favourite song, and couldn’t come to a conclusion. It was a close one between this, Time Is On My Side, Jumpin’ Jack Flash and Get Off Of My Cloud. I’m not sure why I went with this one, so just for safety maybe add every single one of their songs to your playlist.
