On the road it’s sometimes surprising what songs become your go to. We made the most amazing playlist before our East Coast Road Trip and did listen to it on repeat, but there are always a few songs that sneak up on you.
Sometimes having that perfect song can make you feel like you’re in a movie. It might be a comedy movie, but still something to remember.
I can’t put the song that was our most listened to on here, because it was on a self made CD given to us by the artist himself. I can however put some damn good road trip records on that should make up for it.
Proud Mary – Ike and Tina Turner
Everyone knows this song. Everyone loves this song. One thing people don’t think about in relation to it though, is that it has been produced by more than one artist. I found this out when Hamilton asked me to put it on the playlist and I said “Ike and Tina Turner”, which turned into a good five minutes of confusion when he thought I had turned “Tina Turner” into a verb, by announcing that ‘I can Tina Turner”. Word play aside, it’s such a fun song and you can’t not be a little hyped when it’s on.
9-5 – Dolly Parton
This song followed us around everywhere like a good smell. Walmart = 9-5. Gas Station = 9-5. Airplane radio = 9-5. Our car stereo = 9-5. Our dreams = 9-5.
You get the picture. Now, can you get it out of your head?
