Forget 10 weeks, 5 weeks, 2 weeks… It’s now TWO DAYS until we go. As you can imagine, I am kind of running around like a headless chicken (in my brain, on the outside I’m cool and collected, of course).
Due to the many tasks that are currently overwhelming my to do lists, this post will be short and sweet.
If you’ve been keeping up with these posts, you’ll know that by this point of the trip, we will have been to Washington DC, Shenandoah, Great Smoky Mountains, Nashville, Chicago, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec, Montreal, Banff and Lake Louise… Before arriving in Vancouver, the end point of our trip, where we’ll be staying with a lovely family friend.
She’s lived in Vancouver for many, many years, so I trust her knowledge of the city and what’s good there. In this way, that part of the trip will be mostly a surprise. Aside from the fact that we have two overnight trips outside of Vancouver City planned; to Vancouver Island and Seattle, which I am incredibly excited about.
We’re heading to Seattle first, by train, staying near the Needle, with plans to visit the Science Fiction Museum, wander down the pier and see the markets. To have a jolly old time basically.
Vancouver Island is a very exciting adventure, in that we’re getting there by sea plane, where we’ll go whale watching and stay at a beach front hotel in Victoria.
Looking back on all these posts, I can’t quite believe it’s happening so soon. I’ve planned so much, I almost feel like I’ve lived it. But not in a, I’ve been so excited for so long I don’t care any more. More of a complete utter disbelief, and genuine thrill, like if I got to relive Christmas again excitement.
Now, to charge my camera, zip up my bag and set my emails to out of office…
As always, if you have any suggestions for the places we’re going to, they’re incredibly welcome! Especially if they’re tea related… Before you say it, yes tea, not coffee.
P.S. I hope you all appreciate the use of Tom Hanks’ gifs in this, as much as I enjoyed finding them.
