Since we’ve booked the flights for our upcoming trip, a million and one songs have been coming to mind that are perfect for the trip, but with 12 weeks to go I know I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself. Plus seeing as The Big Easy Express is pretty much on repeat in my mind, 90% of the playlist I’m imagining is made up of Old Crow Medicine Show thus I’m branching out to some classic Sunday tunes, that are also heavily raining down road trip vibes.
As always, I try to go with an oldie and a newbie – today’s playlist is no different.
Firstly, the newbie:
Leon Bridges – Smooth Sailin’
Aside from there not being more of his music out yet, there’s nothing I don’t like about this guy. Every song off his album ‘Coming Home’ is an instant classic, so if he’s not yet on your radar, consider this an alert. I mean, look at him, look at the suit, listen to his voice.
Aretha Franklin – Respect
This one, I’m sure already features on everyone’s playlists (travel or otherwise); your nan knows it, your dad knows it, that bloke on the bus knows it. No matter what, this is a song anyone and everyone can sing and will attempt to sing along to.
On that note, if you have been living under a rock and somehow managed to miss her recent performance, then I am about to absolutely make your day (and potentially life):
